Searching the docs for an "if" function

I am fairly certain that such a function must exist, but I cannot find it in the docs. For example, "if function" seems like an intuitive search string, and the Logical Functions section of the docs seems like it should be helpful, but I still haven't found what I'm looking for. Will keep at it, but any guidance is appreciated!

Hi Victor,

I see what you mean. For this particular function, it turns out that you can find it in the Other Functions doc (e.g., https://docs.trifacta.com/display/r051/Other+Functions?os_username=tr82r051usr-&os_password=%5E88f2Sl2mG0A2l1239F%5E).

However, please also take a look at the following Tip from the Wrangle Language doc (e.g., https://docs.trifacta.com/display/r051/Wrangle+Language?os_username=tr82r051usr-&os_password=%5E88f2Sl2mG0A2l1239F%5E):

"When searching for examples of transforms and functions, try using the following forms for your search terms within the Product Docs site:

  • Transforms: wrangle_transform_NameOfTransform
  • Functions: wrangle_function_NameOfFunction"

When I try this with if, i.e., wrangle_function_if, then this is what I get:

Cheers,

Nathanael

Thanks Nathanael. Another tiny question: I noticed that your doc links are /display/r051/... but others in the forums have posted links like /display/SS/...

What's the difference?

Very observant. :)

The difference is that I happened to be browsing the Enterprise version 5.1 docs ('r051') when I answered your original question, whereas links with 'SS' refer to Free Wrangler.

As a user, the rule is to stick to the version that is closest to what you are using! But as someone answering a version-agnostic question, I should really have used the 'SS' docs, which are updated dynamically with the free version. Here they are:

  • Other Functions: https://docs.trifacta.com/display/SS/Other+Functions
  • Wrangle Language: https://docs.trifacta.com/display/SS/Wrangle+Language

Good catch.
