How does Trifacta determine the position of a new column when made through the 'new formula' transformation? Is there a way you can edit where the new column will be located?

The column created from the "new formula" transform depends on what columns the transform refers to.

I.E., if the formula field is not referring to any column - it will be created at the beginning of the table

However, if the formula uses columns from the existing table, it doesn't matter how many columns; it will create this column adjacent (and right after) to the last column it refers to.

To change the location of the newly-created column, you'll need to use the "move" transform; This transform allows you to move multiple columns to wherever you want - and reorder when along the way.
