How do you handle joins with more complex join conditions?

Hi Triforce Community,

We got a great question from one of our super user as mentioned,

How do you handle joins with more complex join conditions? sometimes the team requires more conditions for example between or greater than attribute during joins.

Is that possible if yes how can we achieve the same?

Looking forward to hear from other users experience and solution

Hi @Rohit Bhaskar (Trifacta)? , @Armin Meyer? . That is an excellent question!

Trifacta uses the "range join" feature to deal with this scenario.

https://docs.trifacta.com/display/r087/Configure+Range+Join

In the join UI, when you select the join keys, you can also decide to change the join to a range join - it looks like this:

You can change the comparative operator for the keys from Equal to one that specifies a range of matching values in a range join.

To use this feature, it needs to be enabled on the workspace settings page:

https://docs.trifacta.com/display/r087/Workspace+Settings+Page#WorkspaceSettingsPage-UIforrangejoin

I hope that helps; please feel free to ask any additional questions.

Thanks,

Amit.

Hi @Amit Miller? ,

Thank you that's exactly what we are looking for, but there are no join conditions in our environment (Google Cloud).

@Rohit Bhaskar (Trifacta)? is this a feature that must be enabled?

regards

Armin
