Alteryx Designer Cloud
We’ve brought several enhancements to Designer Cloud this month to help streamline your workflows.
Tool Enhancements
Our tools in Designer Cloud continue to evolve. This month, we’ve added two new math expressions: Pow and SQRT. The Text Input tool has also been enhanced to allow users to paste data with new lines.
Canvas Improvements
This month, we’ve brought several quality-of-life improvements for the canvas.
First, you can now create containers of multiple tools by selecting them, right-clicking, and adding them to a new container. This makes it easier to organize different sections of your workflow.
We’ve also updated the behavior for Data Profiling charts to make them easier to interpret. For String and DateTime columns, we’ve added a footer at the bottom of the Data Profiling chart, which displays the number of the displayed values versus all the unique values inside the column. For Numeric columns, Data Profiling bars are now grouped per 25 items in a section instead of displaying a single bar for each unique value in a column.
Suggestions Improvements
We continue to roll out new features in Suggestions to make them even more useful. This month, we added a new suggestion giving users the ability to keep or delete selected rows in a grid for downstream processing.
Alteryx App Builder
Finally, In Alteryx App Builder, you can now find example apps for new users and enhancements to the Design Tab that will help creators bring their apps to life.
Example Apps
Alteryx App Builder now has Example Apps! Found on the top of the start page of Alteryx App Builder, when a user opens an Example App it will create a duplicate of the Example App in the user's My Applications list. The user can then make changes to the app, save, and publish those changes if they want to. These Example Apps are aimed at helping new App Builder users understand how to build orchestration and designs for their own apps by viewing the configurations of the tools in the examples.
Design Tab UX Enhancements
We continue to roll out new features in Alteryx App Builder to make it even easier to use. This month, we added a Notification to users that there are tools in the Workflow Tools section of the Design tab that can be added to the app design layout.
Now, when there are tools that were added to the Orchestration Tab of an app that are available in the Workflow tools area of the Design tab, there is a red notification indicator on the Workflow tools side panel icon. The red indicator showcases any unused tools that can still be added to the Design Tab. When all Workflow tools have been dragged onto the Design canvas, the notification indicator on the Workflow tools side panel icon and the Tools section do not appear.
